For a winter solstice ritual at home, pick blackberry and pine spell candles, pillar candles or taper candles. All are paraffin wax, and each one brings something different to the altar.

Blackberry & Pine Spell Candles, Box of 12 (£4.49)

Sweet, simple and personal, this box holds 12 blackberry and pine spell candles, made of paraffin wax. Each candle burns for about 1.5 hours, so it suits a short ritual at the altar. The blackberry and pine scent brings a winter woods feel to the room. Spell candles like these are traditionally used for winter rituals, which makes this a lovely pick for a friend just starting candle work.

Best for: Friends new to candle magic.

Pillar Candles in Red or Ivory, Sets and Singles (from £5.49)

Made to be noticed, these paraffin wax pillar candles come in red or ivory. Choose a set of 4 graduated candles, from 7 to 13 cm tall, for a row along the altar. Or pick a single 20 cm or 25 cm candle for a longer burn, up to 90 or 160 hours. They make a good gift for a friend who loves candles or has just moved into a new home.

Best for: Candle lovers and new homes.

Ivory Church Candle 3 Wicks 200 x 150 mm (£40.49)

Thoughtful without being fussy, this ivory church candle has three wicks and measures 200 x 150 mm. It is made in Germany by a traditional family firm. It has a high stearic content, a firming ingredient in wax, so the candle is firmer. Its classic ivory look suits a dinner table or a home with traditional décor, and it is a simple pick for an altar.

Best for: Dinner hosts and classic décor fans.

Dipped Taper Candles, Set of 3, Unscented (£9.49)

Easy to wrap and lovely to open, this set holds three dipped taper candles in unscented paraffin wax. Each one burns for about 3 hours, so they suit altar work or a dinner table. They come in a colour cardboard box with a window, so your friend can see the candles first. Burn them on a stable surface such as glass, metal or ceramic, for no more than one hour at a time, as they may drip.

Best for: Dinner parties and altar work.

Taper Candles, Pack of 10 (from £9.49)

Ideal as a Secret Santa gift, this pack holds 10 paraffin wax taper candles in one colour of your choice. You can pick from eleven colours, including gold, burgundy, pearl, and red and silver metallic. The yellow candles are 24.5 cm tall, 2.3 cm across, and burn for up to 7 hours. Each candle is a simple, bright touch for an altar.

Best for: Secret Santa and altar keepers.

For the solstice, start with a brass bell, a set of four quartz stones for the directions, and illustrated cards for the Wheel of the Year. What ties these gifts together is that each has a clear place on an altar, from a first one to a full one.

Solid Brass Altar Bell (from £5.99)

Simple, useful and well made, this solid brass altar bell is handmade and rings with a clear chime. It suits a pagan friend starting an altar, or a witchcraft beginner. It has a polished finish and comes in the Triple Moon, Flower of Life, triquetra or Penta Moon designs. Pick the three moon and triquetra style at 10.5 cm tall, or a small flower of life or penta moon at 4 x 4 x 7 cm.

Best for: Pagans starting an altar.

Points of the Compass Quartz Stone Set (£13.99)

If they love crystals, this is the one. The set has four pieces of natural quartz, each 1 x 1 x 3 cm and engraved North, South, East or West. They are made for marking the four directions in ritual, so every stone has a clear job on the altar. It suits a crystal collector or a pagan friend who likes a stone with a purpose. Each stone is engraved, so the directions are never in doubt.

Best for: Crystal collectors with a purpose.

Wheel of the Year Altar Cards with Stand (£9.49)

A colourful choice for any pagan or new witch, this set has eight illustrated altar cards, one for each sabbat of the Wheel of the Year. It suits a friend who likes to change their altar with the seasons. The cards stand up on a natural wooden stand, so the picture for the season can sit in view on the altar. The cards are paper and weigh 80 g in total, and they come in a colour cardboard box.

Best for: Friends who change altars seasonally.

Brass Lakshmi & Saraswati Miniature Figurines (from £4.99)

Lovely on a desk at work, these brass miniature figurines show the Hindu goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati. They are devotional or decorative art, a good fit for Hindu devotees and collectors of sacred art. Lakshmi comes at 30 mm, 37 mm or 49 mm, and Saraswati at 34 mm or 49 mm. Each one sits on a lotus base, and weights run from 11 g to 52 g, so you can choose a small piece or a larger one.

Best for: Students and sacred art lovers.

The soapstone burner suits a small witchy corner best, while the black ceramic burner and hanging cauldron suit bolder, spooky décor. All three warm fragrance oil, so each makes a thoughtful gift for a pagan or Wiccan friend's home.

Soapstone Oil Burner 8 cm, Three Moon Pentagon (£8.99)

Practical and pretty, this small soapstone burner is hand carved with a three moon pentagon motif. At 8 x 6.5 cm, it is compact enough for a small corner. Add water and a few drops of fragrance oil to the top bowl, then place a tea light beneath to warm it. It makes a thoughtful gift for a pagan friend who loves home fragrance and enjoys a little quiet ritual in their space.

Best for: Pagans who love fragrance.

Black Triple Moon Oil Burner (£9.49)

A little luxury for them: this black ceramic burner has a cut-out triple moon design and a matt black finish. Standing 10 cm tall, it has a solid, substantial feel at 301 g. It works with fragrance oil or wax, so your friend can choose their favourite scent. It comes in a picture box with polystyrene packing. A strong choice for gothic-leaning homes.

Best for: Gothic and Halloween home lovers.

Hanging Cauldron Oil Burner (£8.49)

A good-humoured gift for a witchcraft fan. This hanging metal cauldron stands 18 cm tall and is recommended for fragrance oil diluted with water. At 155 g it is light, and it comes in a picture box. Its playful shape makes it a fun pick for a new witch, or for anyone who loves the cauldron as a classic emblem of the craft.

Best for: New witches and cauldron collectors.

Angel figurines and decor suit a winter home when they add warm wood and soft gold. These three gifts do that, from a star-holding angel to a dark gothic house for a bolder festive look.

Mango Wood Star Angel with Metal Wings, 30 cm (£26.49)

This 30 cm angel is hand-carved from mango wood and finished with antique-style metal wings and a white enamel robe. It holds a golden star close to its heart, a lovely detail for a winter display. Its size, about 14 cm wide, makes it a good pick for an angel collector, a Christmas decorator or a mum who loves to dress her home for the season.

Best for: Angel collectors and Christmas decorators.

Mango Wood Angel with Gold Wings (from £4.99)

A little luxury for them. This hand-carved mango wood angel has gold wings, and you pick the size that suits their space: small, medium or large. Small is about 12 cm tall, medium about 16 cm and large about 19 cm tall. Warm and simple, it's a lovely gift for angel lovers, grandparents or anyone who loves Christmas decor.

Best for: Angel lovers and grandparents.

Haunted Holiday House Resin Decoration (£6.49)

Something a little different. This black resin haunted house is a gothic Christmas decoration, 10 cm tall, 7.7 cm wide and 4.5 cm deep. It weighs 107 g and is made from resin and polyresin. It comes in a colour cardboard box with polystyrene inside. A good pick for gothic Christmas fans, spooky decor lovers or anyone who loves Halloween.

Best for: Gothic Christmas fans.

The best nature-inspired pieces for a pagan or Green Man lover are the carvings and natural wood pieces that bring the Green Man into a home or garden. They all share a Green Man face or an earthy form, linked to woodland folklore.

Green Man Tree Trunk Carving (from £5.99)

Practical and pretty, this Green Man face is carved from chinaberry (jempinis) and hibiscus trunk offcuts. Pick the large size, 25 x 19 x 7 cm, for a bold statement, or the small, 16 x 11 x 5 cm, for a shelf. It works indoors or outdoors, so it suits a gardener or a folklore lover who wants a Green Man in the garden as well as at home.

Best for: Gardeners and folklore lovers.

Handmade Greenman Parasite Wood Carving (£19.49)

Hand-picked for them, this handmade Greenman is carved into a natural upright branch of parasite wood, measuring 9 x 7 x 21 cm. Each piece varies slightly in tone and form, so no two look exactly alike, and that is part of its charm. It suits a pagan friend or a rustic decor fan who likes the feel of a real branch on a shelf.

Best for: Pagans who love rustic decor.

Greek Taper Vase, Chocolate Terracotta (£13.99)

Great for a new home, this Greek taper vase is handmade terracotta in a chocolate colour, made on the island of Lombok. It measures 31 x 15 cm, and its neck is about 4 cm wide inside, so it suits a taper. Terracotta is not waterproof, so keep it dry, which makes it a good pick for pottery lovers and earthy decor fans.

Best for: New homes and earthy decor.
