About this piece
Darker symbols fill The Occult Tarot, a 78-card tarot deck by Travis McHenry for readers who want something beyond the usual imagery. It suits a collector of unusual decks or a reader curious about grimoires, the old books of magic.
Seventeenth-century daemons, sigils and symbols from ancient grimoires such as the Key of Solomon appear across the deck, which is designed around Solomonic principles. A sigil is a symbol drawn to stand for a spirit or an idea. The cards are paper and come in a colour cardboard box with cellophane. Boxed, it measures 18 cm tall, 13 cm wide and 5 cm deep.
Tarot is traditionally a tool for divination, with cards laid out in a spread and read one by one. This deck brings a grimoire flavour to that practice, a distinctive choice for the reader who already owns the classics.
Great for: tarot readers, occult enthusiasts, deck collectors, witchy friends.
