About this piece
Om and the Flower of Life share one batik wall hanging, made for anyone who likes sacred symbols on their walls. Om is a sacred syllable in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, and the Flower of Life is a pattern of overlapping circles.
Hot wax is drawn directly onto the fabric first, then natural dyes build the artwork. The fabric is stretched and sun dried, and once the wax is washed out the vivid colours come alive. It was made on the island of Bali, in Ubud. The wall hanging measures 110 x 98 cm.
