About this piece
Mandala in the Clouds is a mandala wall hanging in Bali batik, 106 x 93 cm, drawn in hot wax on fabric for lovers of vivid colour. It suits anyone who loves mandala art, batik or a bold splash on a bare wall.
Hot wax comes first: the design is drawn in wax directly onto the fabric, then natural dyes build the artwork. The fabric is stretched and sun dried, the wax is washed out, and the design comes alive in vivid, vibrant colours. The hanging is rayon, created on the island of Bali in the artistic enclave of Ubud.
Mandalas have long been used in Buddhist and Hindu art as circular designs for meditation. This one comes from the Bali Wax Batik Wall Hangings range. Claim the Mandala in the Clouds and give a bare wall its colour.
Perfect for: Housewarmings
Great for: mandala lovers, batik collectors, bohemian home styling.
