About this gift
Lemongrass is a perennial aromatic grass, and this 50 ml essential oil is steam distilled from its fresh or partly dried leaves. Its Latin name is Cymbopogon citratus, and the plant is also known as oil grass.
Steam distillation means steam is passed through the plant to carry its oil out. The leaves for this oil are sourced from Guatemala. Lemongrass contains citral, the same compound that gives lemon peel its main flavour, and the oil is known for its pleasant smell.
Lemongrass used to grow wild in India, where it is called choomana poolu, and it is also known as Indian verbena or Indian melissa oil. With its Latin name, plant part and extraction method all on record, it is a clear, honest choice for anyone building a collection of essential oils.
A good gift for: essential oil collectors, home fragrance lovers, lemongrass fans.
