## About this gift

Hekate, goddess of crossroads and witchcraft in ancient Greek religion, stands with her dogs around her in this figurine by Marc Potts. It is devotional art for an altar and a striking ornament for anyone who honours her or loves Greek myth.

The figure is cast in resin and given a bronzed finish. She is shown as a single being, surrounded by her dogs. In her myths, dogs were closely bound to her rites, and some theories hold that her dogs were really shades or demons.

In ancient Greek tradition, Hekate is associated with crossroads, entrance-ways, light, magic, witchcraft and knowledge of herbs. As a figure of thresholds and hidden knowledge, she holds a special place in modern witchcraft. Set on an altar or a shelf, her bronzed finish gives a goddess of the crossroads a quiet, old-world presence.
