## About this item

Winged, goat-headed and hand-painted in black and silver, this Baphomet bust is occult art for the collector of gothic décor. Baphomet is a symbol of the occult, shown here with a torch between its horns and a pentagram on its forehead.

SOLVE (separate) and COAGULA (join together) are the Latin words on its chest, with two snakes representing male and female. The Sun and the Moon sit on its shoulders, the powers of binding and loosing, which embody opposites and celebrate contrasts. The bust is cast in resin and then carefully hand-painted.

Occult art like this has a long history, as Baphomet has long been a symbol of free-thinking heresy and forbidden knowledge. As a decorative piece it suits a gothic shelf or a display of occult curios.
